Walgreens 101

WALGREENS 101

Guide to Walgreens
Walgreens rewards it’s shoppers with an in store coupons called Register Rewards (commonly referred to as RR) that prints when you buy certain promotional products.  Thisprint out when you are checking out and can be used on your next transaction.

Register Rewards
Register Rewards are coupons that print from a machine called a Catalina machine, that is used by many grocery and/or drug stores stores. These Register Rewards are Walgreens specific coupons (meaning you can only use them at Walgreens). Register Rewards are Manufacturer coupons issued by the Manufacturers of the promotional products that are on sale that week. For example: You buy Schick Razors and a $5 Register Reward prints – this Register Reward is provided by Schick as a manufacturer coupon so when you use your Register Reward, Walgreens will submit the Register Reward to Schick in order to be reimbursed for that coupon, plus a small handling fee.

What makes a Register Reward print?
Register Rewards are linked to certain promotional products offered each week. Sometimes you only have to buy one item, other times you are required to purchase a certain number of items or a certain dollar amount of items.

Can I use a Register Reward to buy the same item again?
NO! If you go in and buy an item or items that make a Register Reward print and then you try to use that particular Register Reward again to buy the same item(s) the next Register Rewards will not print. This is Walgreens way of “limiting” the number of promotional items each person can buy.

Can I use a Register Reward to buy a different Register Reward item or items?
YES! You can “roll” your Register Rewards buy using them to purchase other items that are promoted by other Manufacturers offering Register Rewards for thier products, as long as you are not using them on the same product or other products offered by the same manufacturer.

How long are Register Rewards good for?
Most Register Rewards are good for 14 days from the date of print. If you DO NOT shop Walgreens on a weekly basis, I suggest you have another transaction ready go, so you can use your Register Rewards right then and there. This will solve the problem of having to remember when your rewards are expiring.

Coupon to Item Ratio
You can not have more Manufacturer Coupons than you do items. For instance, you can NOT purchase one item and use a manufacturer coupon from the paper and a Register Reward. If you want to use your Register Reward (considered a manufacturer coupon) you must purchase a “Filler item”. A filler item is any item that costs next to nothing to buy and allows you to use your Register Reward for full value! Walgreens coupons do not count into the coupon to item ratio, ONLY Manufacturer Coupons.
